Crystal Palace-Wolverhampton is a match for the twelfth day of the Premier League and is played on Tuesday at 21:15: formations, predictions, TV and streaming
The initial objective of both was to try and make that long-awaited leap in quality and fight for a place in Europe. But if these are the premises, for Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton it is set to be another largely anonymous year without any great excitement. Despite the investments made by their respective clubs to improve their rosters, neither the Eagles nor Wolves seem to be able to improve on the position achieved in the last championships. Too inconstant the Patrick Vieira-coached team, so far unable to confirm the progress made last season.
His Crystal Palace are currently thirteenth, mired in the right-hand side of the table and with the relegation zone only two points away. Zaha and co. have won just one game in their last six matches, beating Leeds 2-1 at Selhurst Park. Last Saturday the Eagles were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Leicester, a poor performance against a struggling team that deserved to win on points. And if the Londoners came out of the King Power Stadium unbeaten, they owe it mainly to the miracles of their goalkeeper Guaita. Vieira is not at risk of being sacked, but his team must change gear to prevent things from becoming more complicated.
Even worse off is Wolverhampton, who exonerated Portuguese coach Bruno Lage a fortnight ago following a long series of bad results. On the bench of the black-and-gold club is the interim coach Steve Davis, who after the defeat at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea managed to get Wolves back to winning ways by narrowly defeating (Neves’ penalty) the bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Forest.
The Prediction
Selhurst Park in this first part of the season has shown that it is no longer the fortress it was last year: it is no coincidence that in front of its own public Crystal Palace has never kept its goal unbroken. They might not even manage it with Wolverhampton, who have the worst attack in the league with only 4 goals to their credit. With the new coach, however, interesting new patterns of play have been seen and with so many quality players the goals will have to come sooner or later. A draw between Palace and Wolves cannot be ruled out in a match where both should score
