Chelsea-Crystal Palace, Premier League: tv, likely formations, prediction

by Mike

Chelsea-Crystal Palace is a match on the third day of the Premier League and is played Sunday at 2:30 p.m.: live TV, probable formations, prediction.

Yet another hectic market has just concluded for a Chelsea that has continued to spend a lot of money – nearly 300 million on incoming deals – while also having to deal with a huge number of redundancies, many of whom eventually stayed in London.

No striker of depth arrived – no dice for Osimhen – and there undoubtedly remain some gaps at the squad level. It will be up to Enzo Maresca, in his first experience at Stamford Bridge after last year’s promotion with Leicester, to get the most out of his players. The Blues in this first part of the league have shown good things and some not so good things. In the Conference League, once they mortgaged qualification in the first leg against Servette (2-0), Chelsea relaxed a bit, losing 2-1 in Switzerland (a painless defeat, however). In the league, on the other hand, after the knockout in the opener with Manchester City (0-2) Maresca’s men smashed six goals off Wolverhampton at Molineux (2-6), complete with Madueke’s hat trick. In short, some balance will also need to be found as soon as possible in order to keep up with the big boys and regain Champions League qualification, the number one goal.

Two defeats out of two for Palace

In order to achieve this, Maresca is aware that matches like the one with Crystal Palace, moreover, just back from two league defeats (disappointments partly mitigated by the round 4-0 obtained this week in the first round of the League Cup against Norwich), cannot be missed.

Oliver Glasner’s Eagles are thus still pinned at 0 points: they can do better but bad luck did not leave Palace either with Brentford – goal on a free kick cancelled out to Eze inexplicably – and many missed chances (including a crossbar) in the defeat to West Ham.

The Prediction

For all it has managed to build, Glasner’s Crystal Palace would certainly have deserved more in the two derbies with Brentford and West Ham and most likely will not run out of goals against a Chelsea side that has kept its goal unbeaten only once in four games. The Blues, however, remain favored, partly because of the numerous absences in the Eagles’ defense: Palace, after all, has been losing this derby continuously since 2017.

The probable lineups of Chelsea-Crystal Palace

CHELSEA (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Malo Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Pedro Neto; Nicolas Jackson.
CRYSTAL PALACE (3-4-3): Henderson; Clyne, Guéhi, Richards; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Kamada, Eze, Mateta.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
