Chelsea-Brentford, Premier League: odds, predictions.

by Lea

Chelsea-Brentford is a match valid for the tenth day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 1:30pm: TV, likely formations, predictions.

The match with Arsenal left a hint of regret in Chelsea’s house. Sure, a point with the Gunners, who are nine points behind the Blues at the moment, is not to be thrown away. But the match, with six minutes left, Mauricio Pochettino’s team had it in the bag before conceding the final 2-2 goal by former Brighton man Trossard.

A victory in the London derby would have provided important, almost vital momentum for a club that, despite yet another pharaonic market in the summer, has started the season badly. In recent weeks, however, Chelsea has shown some signs of recovery, and the good performance offered in the cross-city match only attested to the small progress, especially in the scoring department. Against Arsenal came the fourth useful result in a row, which also helps move the standings, although fourth place is currently eight points away. Blues therefore still a long way from coming out of the tunnel, and the other London derby with Brentford will tell us more about their state of health. The Bees, lately, represent a sort of “black beast” for Chelsea, which has never managed to get the better of them in the last three league challenges (2 defeats and a draw).

Brentford, in fact, has always taken away the three points in the last two away matches at Stamford Bridge: sensational was the one in April 2022, when the red-and-whites won 4-1.

This year Thomas Frank’s team seems to find it more difficult than in recent seasons and last Saturday broke a long fast of victories by overwhelming newly promoted Burnley (3-0), a match in which it kept its goal unbroken for the first time since August. Frank rejoins former Bologna man Hickey, who missed the last round due to disqualification, but must do without Shade, Lewis-Potter, Dasilva and Henry. In Chelsea, the re-established James should start from 1′, no news instead in attack.

The Prediction

Chelsea has regained goals and confidence in recent games, and the positive streak is likely to continue in the derby with Brentford, which is less fearsome than last season. Blues favored in a match of at least two goals total. Watch out for yellow cards: Pochettino’s team is second on the “naughtiest” list.
