Brentford-Wolverhampton, Premier League: likely formations, predictions.

by Sabrina

Brentford-Wolverhampton is a match valid for the 19th day of the Premier League and is played on Wednesday at 8:30 pm: TV, formations, predictions.

Brentford has not taken the field since last December 17 and last weekend ago it “rested,” as the match with Manchester City was postponed due to the Cityzens’ engagement in the Club World Cup (won in the final against Fluminense). A break that probably benefited the Bees: lately, in fact, the Londoners are not shining at all and in the standings they have plummeted to 13th place.

Five defeats suffered in the last six days by Thomas Frank’s men. From mid-November onward, the Danish coach seems to have lost his bearings, and his only joy during this time was a victory with newly promoted Luton Town. What is going on with Brentford, a team that since returning to the top flight two years ago has shown that it can easily achieve salvation and even take some satisfaction against the Premier League bigwigs? First of all, the attack is not turning. With the exception of the game with Luton, beaten 3-1 at the Community Stadium, since the defeat to Liverpool the Bees have scored only two goals, while at the same time never managing to keep the goal inviolate. Frank is looking forward to the return of Ivan Toney, the white-and-white gunner who is serving a lengthy disqualification for soccer offences: he is expected to return in mid-January.

Similar numbers

Brentford’s short-term goal, meanwhile, is to put an end to the losing streak, and the home match with Wolverhampton seems to come at just the right time.

The Wolves right now have very similar numbers. And, like the Bees, they are trying to stay as far away from the red zone as possible, having come off a turbulent season in which they were in serious danger of relegation. Gary O’Neil’s team, however, struggles more on the road. The Black and Gold’s only victories away from home came in August against Everton and in October against Bournemouth.

The Prediction

Since Brentford has returned to the Premier League it has only managed to beat Wolves once in four times. O’Neil’s team, despite not shining away from home, could give the Bees a hard time again in a match in which they will most likely both score. Brentford should avoid defeat this time.
