Bournemouth-Newcastle, Premier League: odds, predictions

by Sabrina

Bournemouth-Newcastle is a match valid for the twenty-third day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 18:30: TV, formations, predictions.

Bournemouth made headlines in the last Italian transfer window for their interest in Nicolò Zaniolo, who later ended up at Galatasaray. The Cherries did, however, do some shopping in the Italian league, picking up Hamed Traoré from Sassuolo.

In spite of a substantial buying campaign, however, the Rossoneri are unable to break away from the danger zone and remain among the most serious candidates for relegation, barely a year after returning to the Premier League. The team coached by Gary O’Neil is penultimate, but only two points behind West Ham-Leeds, two teams that would be safe today. Victory has been missing since last November and Bournemouth has almost exclusively collected defeats since the start of the championship. The only point in the last six days came in the clash with Nottingham Forest, another newly promoted team. On Saturday, Solanke and his team-mates may have deserved more in the away game at Brighton, but they conceded the decisive goal in the penalty area. Bournemouth’s defence meanwhile is still the most perforated in the Premier League, with 43 goals conceded, while the attack has not scored for over 500 minutes.

In the Saturday’s post-match at the Vitality Stadium comes Newcastle, who have become a big name in the English Premier League.

The Magpies are fighting for a place in the next Champions League, but they must guard against attacks from Tottenham, who a few hours earlier could implement an overtaking move. Eddie Howe’s Magpies after last weekend are the team that has lost fewer games, even if the draws – in the Premier we are two in a row between Crystal Palace and West Ham – are starting to be too many (10). A pity, as up front they are all slowing down, from the leading Arsenal to the two Manchesters.

The Prediction

Tough away match for a Newcastle side who are suffering greatly from the absence of Bruno Guimaraes, a real balancer for Howe’s team. The Magpies’ defence is still the best in the league, and the Bianconeri should be able to keep their goals unbroken against a Bournemouth side who are struggling to score and concede a lot of goals.
