Bournemouth-Chelsea is a match of the fifth day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 3 pm: TV, lineups, predictions.
Mauricio Pochettino, after the home loss (0-1) to Nottingham Forest, the second of the season, said it will take time before we see “his” Chelsea at work.
Basically, he asked his fans to be patient, as the Blues changed several things again in the summer, starting with the technical leadership, and bought many young prospects, not yet fully blossomed, always spending very high amounts of money. The results, however, for now are not on his side: on the contrary, the London club’s points average in the first four days of the season is similar to that held in the last season, one of the worst in absolutes in the last two decades. The Chelsea that Pochettino has in mind has so far been seen only in flashes, and the only victory came against a newly promoted side, Luton Town, which lies in last place in the standings with 0 points. The best performance was the one offered against Liverpool in the opener but on that occasion Lady Luck turned her back on the Londoners, who would have deserved more.
Chelsea still breaking in
Yes, patience is definitely needed, but in the standings, the hierarchies are already emerging: yesterday Manchester City won and remained on full points (they are currently +9 from Chelsea).
The others are in a hurry, too, and the risk, for the Blues, is to be left behind again and miss the Champions League train, a minimal goal given the much money spent on the market. Then there is the fact that Chelsea this year will have a not inconsiderable “advantage” over other direct competitors and that is to be able to devote only to the league. The match with Bournemouth, for all this series of reasons, is one not to be missed: the Cherries are still without victories – two draws and two defeats for the Rossoneri – but it is a performance that is not surprising in light of the tactical upheavals operated by new coach Andoni Iraola, somewhat the opposite of predecessor O’Neil.
The prediction
Bournemouth’s Achilles heel is a defense that concedes too many goals, partly because of the swagger required by the coach. On the other side we have an indecipherable Chelsea struggling with problems of various kinds and especially with numerous absences. We would not trust the Blues too much in a game that promises goals aplenty.
