Bournemouth-Brighton is a Premier League Week 7 fixture and is played on Tuesday at 20:45: TV, odds, predictions
In the Premier League there are still several games to be recovered that could upset the current standings ahead of the imminent final rush. The main focus is on the relegation zone, where, as we have been saying for several weeks now, there are many teams in contention: from 12th place down, no one is safe.
On Saturday, Bournemouth took a significant step towards safety, as they are one of the smallest of the so-called ‘small’ teams. The Cherries, after having troubled the first two in the class, Arsenal and Manchester City, but without picking up any points, won their last two home matches: at the Vitality Stadium Liverpool and Fulham fell. Marco Silva’s side was the latest victim of the Rossoneri, who three days ago brought home a very important success, moreover in a comeback, against one of the great surprises of this championship. Tavernier and Solanke in the second half made Pereira’s first-half goal in vain, castigating the Londoners. At last, the performances – which Gary O’Neil’s side have not failed to produce in the last few months – are being followed up by results, but there is still a long way to go as the league table, despite Bournemouth now being fifth bottom, is still very short.
Bournemouth don’t want to give up
And a defeat is all it takes to find themselves in the red zone. O’Neil and his side will look to exploit the home factor once again – they have only lost one of their last five in front of their home crowd – in the Week 7 tie with Brighton.
As for the Seagulls, Roberto De Zerbi’s excellent work continues without any major hiccups, even if at the weekend the pyrotechnic 3-3 draw with Brentford has the taste of a wasted opportunity. Mind you, Brighton avoided defeat in the 90th minute thanks to a penalty kick scored by Mac Allister, but over the course of the match they had more than twice as many chances as the Bees, with a clear dominance of ball possession (72%). Something to revise in the non-possession phase, considering that Brentford scored three goals in practically the only shots on goal they were able to take. This does not detract from a sensational championship for the Seagulls, who are still in the running for a place in Europe.
The Prediction
Bournemouth have an excellent home roster in the last period. But it is difficult to assume another close win against one of the most in-form teams in the league, who lost only one game in the Premier League in 2023. In our opinion Brighton are slight favourites in a match of at least three goals in total.
