Bologna-Roma prediction: Ranieri still hasn’t made it.

by Lea

Bologna-Roma is a match valid for the 20th day of Serie A and is played on Sunday at 18:00: odds, prediction, live TV and streaming.

Claudio Ranieri made it five out of five last Sunday, confirming himself as “lethal” for Lazio in the derbies of the Capital. His Roma side continues to improve match after match, and against their Biancocelesti rivals they experienced their most exciting moment (so far) of the season, getting their second win in the last three days.

First the rediscovered Pellegrini and then the former Milan Saelemaekers – coincidentally two players that Ranieri is trying to revive – sunk Marco Baroni’s team, which was already down 2-0 after the first twenty minutes of the game.

The Giallorossi subsequently just managed, relying on the weapon of the counterattack and containing the not so sporadic Lazio sorties. An unquestionably magical night, even if Roma now needs to regain continuity if the goal is to get closer to the Europa zone: in fact, the standings currently see the Capitolini in tenth place, still a long way from that fourth place occupied look home by Lazio itself, which is +12. A good test will be the challenge with Bologna: in Emilia Pellegrini and his teammates will try to dispel the away taboo, given that they are the only ones together with Venezia not to have won even one victory away from the Olimpico. The Emilians, on the other hand, return to the field after about two weeks, due to the postponement of the match with Inter (engaged in the Italian Super Cup). There are therefore two matches to be made up for Vincenzo Italiano’s Rossoblù, both against the Milanese. Bologna has not taken the field since last Dec. 30, when it surrendered 3-2 to Verona in a haunted match conditioned by Pobega’s expulsion, seeing its winning streak interrupted and losing the opportunity to make up ground against fifth place.

Bologna-Roma: the latest news on the lineups

Italian without Aebischer, El Azzouzi, Cambiaghi and the disqualified Pobega. Dominguez is expected to start after his double against Verona, taking Odgaard’s place. Also likely the presence from the 1′ of Ndoye, in a runoff with Orsolini. More Dallinga than Castro in attack, while in defense the duel is between Holm and Posch. Same for the left out, where Lykogiannis and Miranda compete for a jersey.

Ranieri seems intent on reintroducing the eleven that beat Lazio, with Pellegrini and Dybala behind Dovbyk. In the middle Koné and Paredes, on the flanks Saelemaekers and Angelino. The only one unavailable is Cristante.

The Prediction

For the past two seasons, Bologna has proved indigestible to Roma (one scoreless draw and as many as three Rossoblù victories), who have failed to beat the Felsinei since January 2023. The Giallorossi’s away performance suggests caution but watch out for the enthusiasm generated by the fine derby success: the feeling is that Roma can at least avoid defeat in a match in which they should both score.

The probable lineups of Bologna-Roma

BOLOGNA (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Holm, Beukema, Lucumì, Lykogiannis; Freuler, Ferguson; Ndoye, Fabbian, Dominguez; Dallinga.
ROME (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, N’Dicka; Saelemaekers, Koné, Paredes, Angelino; Dybala, Pellegrini; Dovbyk.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 1-1
