Berrettini, Italian change: the announcement is already official.

It seems, in fact, according to the bombshell dropped by Il tennis italiano, that Berrettini has decided to hire as an athletic trainer the highly experienced Umberto Ferrara, the same one who was involved, despite himself, in the doping affair that befell Jannik Sinner. Just like the South Tyrolean’s former physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi, he would in fact have clear responsibilities in the Clostebol affair, on which, after the Itia ruling, the Lausanne Tas, called upon by Wada, will also pronounce.
There is much confusion, at any rate, about Berrettini’s future scenarios. At his side there is already Alessandro Bega, with whom Matteo has worked very well during this season now coming to an end. Berrettini “leaves” Santopadre to Sonego

The person we are talking about is coach Santopadre, who after Berrettini’s farewell chose to coach young Frenchman Luca Van Assche. It is news of the last hours that he has decided to double his commitment to the circuit and to join, as a consultant, another talented Italian tennis player. This is Lorenzo Sonego, who will be able to take advantage of Vincenzo’s great experience at certain times of the year, especially in training in Turin and Rome.
“In tournaments, Fabio Colangelo and Davide Galoppini will continue to follow me,” Sonego explained to La Stampa newspaper, ”I established a beautiful human relationship with Santopadre right from the start. I want to continue to invest in myself and I am sure that Vincenzo is the right person to add something new to my game, creating the right synergy with the team.” The double thread with Berrettini would be linked to the fact that Matteo and Lorenzo are very close friends and that for Santopadre, therefore, it will be like remaining always in the family.
