Berrettini doesn’t buy it: half-hearted lion

by Mark

Matteo Berrettini cashes in but turns up his nose: not believing a word, his reaction was unequivocal.

If there is one adjective that can describe him better than many others, that is undoubtedly one: resilient. Several times he thought of throwing in the towel, tired of passively suffering the “decisions” of fate. On each of these occasions, however, he has always found the strength to pick himself up and move forward, to start over whenever needed.

And it may be true, as many say, that Matteo Berrettini will never return to the levels he once was, but at this point it matters little. The main thing is that he can continue doing what he loves and what he was born to do, that thing he is particularly good at: playing tennis. He deserves to go on and try as long as he wants to get back into the top ten, if only because of all the times bad luck has forced him to give up his dreams and ambitions.

We feared it had happened again a few days ago when he withdrew from the Atp in Tokyo because of an alleged problem, the usual one, with his abdominals. Fortunately, it was only a false alarm, so much so that, a few hours later, he was already on the court in Shanghai, against all expectations. Again, his proverbial resilience proved providential, indispensable. And it is a merit that many, fortunately, give him credit for.

Berrettini without blemish and without fear: Musetti says so

There is someone, more than others, who admires Berrettini’s courage and strength. That someone is his colleague Lorenzo Musetti, who in the past few hours, along with Fabio Fognini, participated in an Atp Tour game.

He had to set his imagination in motion and say what an animal Matthew would be if he had legs instead of arms and legs. Carrara’s response was, “He would be a lion because of his ‘flame,’ because he is not afraid of anything.” Berrettini said he was surprised by the similarity and said “I wish” as he saw the part of the clip where Lorenzo alluded to the fact that he is not afraid of anything.

As if to say that he would like to be that strong and brave, but he doesn’t think he is. Which seems to suggest that he is not totally aware of the magic he has done and the example he has set by fighting against all the adversities that life has put in front of him.
