Arsenal-Brighton, Premier League: likely lineups, predictions.

by Martin

Arsenal-Brighton is a match valid for the 36th day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 5:30pm: TV, lineups, predictions.

Make en plein in the three matches left to play and hope for a miracle. That’s all Arsenal has left to do after being overtaken by Manchester City, which now has the Premier League in its grasp. Citizens 82, Gunners 81. But next to Pep Guardiola’s team stands an asterisk: yes, because City has played one less match than the Londoners. And should they win it, the gap would become four points.

In this round Mikel Arteta’s men will take the field a few hours after the match featuring Haaland and his teammates at Goodison Park, on the field of an Everton entangled in the fight not to relegate and thirsty for points. Arsenal, on the other hand, will return to play in front of their home crowd after a fine victory in Newcastle, against a team that had lost only one game at home during this championship. A full success (0-2) that, together with the one obtained seven days earlier in the derby against Chelsea, certifies the return in style of the Gunners, who have managed to regain the pace of the past months and to file away the negative moment, culminating with the, probably decisive, drubbing in the direct clash with Manchester City. Now they will have to confirm in a challenge with a very high difficulty coefficient against Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton.

Brighton in search of redemption

The Seagulls are the team that has to make up the most games in this frantic final rush, and in two weeks they will have to play no less than five. The Europe dream, in short, is still intact.

De Zerbi

Seventh on 55 points, Brighton is in the midst of a race for sixth place, which would mean qualification for the next Europa League. De Zerbi’s men, however, are coming off a worrying setback: last Monday they were scrambled at home by Everton with a humiliating 5-1, a defeat that no one could have counted on, especially of these proportions. For the Seagulls, this is the second misstep in the last four games: before the double success with Wolverhampton and Manchester United, Brighton had also fallen disastrously (3-1) at home to Nottingham Forest.

The Prediction

There is great balance in the last precedents: two wins on each side and one draw. One round ago at the Amex Stadium ended 4-2 for the Gunners, who start with the favor of the odds this time as well. Arteta’s team, after all, cannot commit any missteps if it still wants to hold out any hope. But Brighton at the Emirates Stadium will not be an extra, eager to redeem their poor showing against Everton: at least three goals in total are expected.

The likely lineups for Arsenal-Brighton

  • ARSENAL (4-3-3): Ramsdale; White, Kiwior, Gabriel, Tierney; Odegaard, Jorginho, Xhaka; Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Martinelli.
  • BRIGHTON (4-2-3-1): Steele; Gross, Dunk, Colwill, Estupinan; Caicedo, Gilmour; Enciso, Mac Allister, Mitoma; Ferguson.
