Auxerre-Monaco prediction: three points are guaranteed

by Martin

Auxerre’s last victory against Monaco dates back to 2009. Yes, it’s true, the hosts have played in Ligue 2 for several seasons, but since then, they have always come up short in every matchup. This is also highly likely to be the case in Saturday evening’s match.

Bolstered by two wins in their first three games, Monaco are not hiding: they want to try to keep up not with PSG – no one in France is capable of doing that – but with all the teams that will be trying their best to take at least second place. The defeat against Lille, their only one this season, which came in injury time due to a goal by Giroud, is acceptable for the Principality’s team, which then, before the break, got back on track by winning three points again.

And for Auxerre, it is clear that Monaco is their nemesis, as they have almost never managed to score points against them. Furthermore, the technical qualities of the two teams cannot be compared in the slightest: on the one hand, there is a team that wants to qualify for the Champions League at all costs, and on the other, a team that would like to achieve a comfortable safety margin but knows that it cannot do so by winning this type of game.

The prediction

While they score regularly up front, Monaco are still a little shaky at the back. In short, we would not be surprised to see an away win in a game with at least three goals in total.
