Serie B, for Pisa second in the standings is Salernitana: the granata have just ended a long fast of victories.
After three victories in a row slowed down Pippo Inzaghi’s Pisa, seven days ago stopped in Calabria by a tough Catanzaro (0-0). Only one point for the Tuscans, still second in the standings but slipped to -5 from leading Sassuolo. Made up ground on them the third Spezia, victorious in nearby Carrara: the Ligurians, from whom the Nerazzurri must watch their backs in view of direct promotion, have 5 points less. Another long-distance duel is staged this weekend, with Pisa having a chance to further consolidate second place by taking advantage of the direct clash between Spezia and Sassuolo.
Inzaghi’s team, which meanwhile is continuing to strengthen – within a few days Meister, Solbakken and Sernicola arrived – hosts Salernitana, revitalized by the Breda cure. The granata returned to winning ways after a month and a half (and various coach changes) by winning at the last second in the challenge with Reggiana. Decisive was striker Cerri, who arrived in the winter market and scored a brace (2-1). An important confidence boost for a Salernitana that now aims to move away from the relegation zone: Pisa is favored despite the heavy absences of Tramoni and Caracciolo but it will not be a walk in the park against a team that seems to have regained motivation and a minimum of enthusiasm after a very black period.
Palermo is also growing from match to match: two consecutive victories for the Rosanero, now called upon to unlock themselves on the road as well (the last success away from home dates back to September). A difficult trend to reverse but the feeling is that the Sicilians, who have risen to fifth place, will be able to return from Reggio Emilia with a positive result.
The predictions on the other games
In 2025 only victories for Giovanni Stroppa’s Cremonese as well: the grigiorossi have won 2 in a row against Frosinone and Cosenza and have not lost since early December. The problem is that too many missteps in the fall for now oust the Lombardi from the race for direct promotion (Pisa second is +11).
Modena remains a bad client – just one defeat in the last three months for the Emilians – but Bianchetti and his teammates could ride the wave of two consecutive victories to extend the winning streak. We close with the challenge between Brescia and Catanzaro, two of the teams with the most draws (as many as 14 for the Calabrians, 10 for the Lombards). Balance should reign at the “Rigamonti” in a match in which the number of goals is likely to be less than three. Yet another “x” sign cannot be ruled out.
