Olympiacos-West Ham is a match from the third day of the Europa League group stage and is played Thursday at 6:45 p.m.: TV, lineups, predictions.
High temperatures are expected at the “Karaiskakis” stadium, the fiery Olympiacos bowl that will have to push Diego Martinez’s red-and-whites in the first of two challenges with West Ham, the leader of Group A and the only one still with a full score.
Already complicated situation instead for the Greeks, who after two days have only one point in the standings, the same haul as the modest TSC Serbs, against whom in their last match they did not go beyond a disappointing draw (2-2). Olympiacos, defeated in the opener by Freiburg, had to win at all costs against the least equipped team in the group but had to be content to share the stakes with the small Vojvodina club, which was able to take advantage of numerical superiority (Ndoj sent off in 71′) and come back two goals in the second half. Olympiacos, then, already had its back to the wall and was forced to give its all in the two matches with the Hammers, who seem to have already mortgaged first place.
The Londoners, despite failing to keep their goal unbeaten, got the better of Freiburg and TSC (beaten 1-2 and 3-1, respectively) and “see” qualification.
At the moment David Moyes is probably more focused on the league, where the latest results have not been encouraging: West Ham, after stopping Newcastle at the London Stadium on the last day before the break, was heavily defeated in Birmingham by Unai Emery’s Aston Villa with a peremptory 4-1. Olympiacos, first in the Greek Super League standings, on the other hand, did not play over the weekend. Or rather, it did so only for 48 minutes, as the derby with Panathinaikos was suspended due to a firecracker thrown by a fan that struck the green-and-white defender Juankar.
The prediction
There are the preconditions to witness an enthralling and potentially prolific match. West Ham is superior to Olympiacos but remains an inconsistent team and, more importantly, concedes many goals. Watch also for possible turnover by Moyes, who may rotate several players. Hammers slightly favored in a contest of at least three goals overall.
