Olympiacos-Freiburg is a match valid for the second day of the Europa League group stage
OLYMPIACOS – FREIBURG | Thursday 6.45pm
After the defeat in the 93rd minute at Nantes on their Europa League debut, the challenge against Freiburg becomes crucial for Olympiacos. They cannot afford any more missteps for the Greeks, who have only one result at their disposal if they still want to seek passage to the round, perhaps as first in the group, since that was the goal at the beginning. Yes, it is not decisive, of course, but another defeat would almost completely preclude the chances of going ahead. And that is not allowed after only two days.
In all this, however, it will not be easy for the hosts to get the better of Freiburg: the Germans started well by doing their own thing in the first game by beating Qarabag 2-1. Three very heavy points for the team coached by Streich, who also showed progress in general by drawing last weekend against Borussia Monchengladbach, always a tough opponent to face. On paper, in a nutshell, it is a very balanced match, and usually, when it is, it might even end in a draw.
The prediction
The main fact is that a point for Freiburg on the difficult Olympiacos pitch would be good. The German team would remain undefeated and would look forward to the double-header against Nantes with more peace of mind. A point, on the other hand, would not be the best for Olympiacos, who, however, do not seem to have the strength at the moment to take the three points. A draw, in a nutshell
