Nantes-Olympiacos is the match for the first day of the Europa League group stage: fixtures, where to watch it on TV and streaming
Nantes are in the Europa League thanks to winning the French Cup last year. The Greeks of Olympiacos, on the other hand, were eliminated from the Champions League preliminaries and so have to settle for the second European event. And if we look at the Greeks’ record in France – in the meantime, however, Olympiacos have introduced former Real Madrid player Marcelo, who will not be in the match – one could certainly hope for a better debut: seven times they have played on French soil, and five defeats – all 2-1 – and only two victories have come. There is also a statistic then to try and subvert.
European experience could make the difference: the Greeks, unlike Nantes, are accustomed to these stages, and if we go back to the previous conversation, having never had a draw, then this could really be the time, perhaps with both teams finding the way to the net. Yes, that’s exactly the feeling analysing all the numbers too.
The Prediction
A match of at least one goal per team and a match that could end in a draw. Between Nantes and Olympiacos – in their first official meeting – an X sign could be on the cards. A point each to move up the table and start on the right foot, especially for the visiting team.
