Marseille-Brighton is a match for the second day of the Europa League group stage: live TV, streaming and predictions
This is not a match like any other Marseille-Brighton. It hasn’t been one for a week now, that is, since Gennaro Gattuso took his seat on the French side’s bench. The debut was a bitter one, with a defeat at Monaco that, in our opinion, still stings the Italian coach. Who on Thursday evening will face fellow countryman De Zerbi, who leads the English side.
The two have already crossed paths in a very hot Serie C playoff when they led Pisa and Foggia respectively. A match tainted even by a small bottle that hit the Calabrian coach. Fiery, heated fans, with an ending that was certainly to be condemned. None of this will happen tomorrow, of course. But there is also curiosity as to how the two will greet each other before and after the match. In short, the Italian eyes will be there too.
Returning to the match, we give a slight favourite to Marseille who, at this level, are used to playing unlike De Zerbi’s team who are in Europe for the first time in their history. The English also sinned by inexperience in their first outing, the one against Aek at home, which saw the Greeks emerge victorious. Last resort, or almost, for the coach that Guardiola calls one of the best. Tastes, of course. Some people like it and some don’t. As happens everywhere.
The Prediction
Beforehand, Marseille have the likes of Aubameyang and Correa – who should snatch a starting shirt – who can make the difference at any time. Obviously the hosts are favourites for this one, with Gattuso likely to celebrate his first win on the French bench on Thursday night in Europe.
