Europa League, Lazio goes in hunt for second win in the competition after the goleada handed to Dinamo Kiev. Spurs and Galatasaray are also on the pitch.
In the Europa League, it’s back to the pitch a week after the first day of the league phase. The matches, however, this time are not spread over two days but, as was the case in the past, are all scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 3. Among the teams anticipating (6:45 p.m.) is Marco Baroni’s Lazio, which is hunting for its second win in the competition after a rounded 3-0 thrashing seven days ago against Dinamo Kiev on the neutral field in Hamburg.
For the Biancocelesti, fresh from their resounding success (2-3) with Torino in the league, there is another not bad test, as a talented team like Nice, coached this year by former Lens Haise, arrives in Rome.
The Rossoneri so far have been erratic and inconsistent in Ligue 1, yet in the Europa League on their debut they stopped fearsome Real Sociedad (1-1) and will try to do the same in the capital. Lazio, however, seems to be growing match after match, especially on the level of play and, taking advantage of the boost of their own public, has all the cards to impose themselves on the Aiglons in a match that should give at least three goals in total. Another goleada in sight for Tottenham, engaged in Budapest against Ferencvaros, beaten by Anderlecht on the first day: the Spurs, rejuvenated after the very clear victory at Old Trafford (0-3) over Manchester United at the weekend, should also regulate the Magyars without problems.
The predictions on the other matches
Galatasaray is also likely to remain with full points: the Giallorossi, held back by surprise by Kasimpasa in the league (3-3), face one of the least competitive teams on paper in this Europa League, the Latvians of RFS Riga: a round success by Osimhen and his teammates is to be expected.
Hoffenheim’s bad moment continues: the Germans, coming off four Bundesliga defeats in a row, are unable to hold off their opponents’ attacks (14 goals conceded since the end of August), and Dinamo Kiev, eager to redeem their ugly defeat to Lazio, could take advantage of it. Real Sociedad, on the other hand, has a good chance of picking up at least a point against Anderlecht: on Basque soil, Imanol’s team often has an extra gear. Finally, the challenges between Olympiacos and Braga, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Midtjylland, and Slavia Prague and Ajax are expected to be more balanced: there is a high probability that they will both score.
