Europa League, day three: predictions on the other matches

by Mark

Europa League, as many as 16 matches are scheduled on Thursday: Tottenham hosts Dutch side AZ Alkmaar while Real Sociedad goes in search of their first success.

With the two-day Champions League over, the Europa League is also ready to put on a show with no less than 16 matches scheduled. In addition to the two Italians (Roma and Lazio), Tottenham, which according to bookmakers is the main favorite to win the cup along with compatriots Manchester United, also takes the field.

A few days after the resounding 4-1 success in the derby with West Ham in the Premier League, Spurs, with full points, host the Dutch of AZ Alkmaar, coming off four consecutive defeats between the Europa League and the Eredivisie. Not a particularly good moment for Maarten Martens’ team, which is unlikely to avoid defeat in a match of at least three goals total. Real Sociedad, on the other hand, has yet to celebrate its first victory: for the Basques, a draw with Nice and a surprising home loss to Anderlecht. The trend should change in the encounter with Maccabi Tel Aviv, which, by the way, is forced to play on a neutral field because of the war events affecting Israel.

Ajax has so far beaten Besiktas and drawn with Slavia Prague: Francesco Farioli’s men should also return with at least a point in their pocket from faraway Azerbaijan, but watch out for Qarabag’s desire for redemption, pinned at zero points. Among the teams with full points is also Anderlecht, which also has a good chance of imposing itself on the Bulgarians of Ludogorets, while Athletic Bilbao can take advantage of the field factor in its match with Slavia Prague, which has four points in the standings just like the Basques.

Wide success for Eintracht Frankfurt?

Eintracht Frankfurt should get a wide win against Latvians RFS Riga, on the last day able to stop Icardi and Osimhen’s Galatasaray. Among the matches promising at least three goals overall are also Lyon-Besiktas and Porto-Hoffenheim.

Predicted balance, finally, between Midtjylland and Union Saint-Gilloise and between Rangers and FCSB, but in this respect Ferencvaros-Nice, another challenge in which both will most likely score, should not be outdone either.
