Wednesday, Sept. 18 predictions: not only Champions League

by Mark

The predictions of Wednesday, September 18, new single-round stage of the Champions League with six matches scheduled, Bologna and Inter Milan on the pitch.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City does not evoke positive memories for Inter fans: the mind can only go back to the final of the 2023 edition of the Champions League, when on the night in Istanbul Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri were chastened by a goal from Spanish midfielder Rodri and saw their dream of becoming European champions for the fourth time in their history fade away.

Manchester City have made a great start to the season and in front of their own public they tend to be even more invulnerable. Guardiola’s battleship, however, in five official matches has kept its goal unbeaten on only one occasion: against Inter Milan, the Cityzens are favored for the 3 points but it would not be a surprise if the Nerazzurri scored at least one goal.

Predictions on the other matches

Historic day for Bologna, which, however, under the new technical guidance of Vincenzo Italiano did not start the season well, showing gaps especially in the defensive phase: against Shakhtar Donetsk likely a game of at least one goal per team.

PSG has started the season well and should have no problem against Girona; a home win is also likely for Celtic against Slovan Bratislava. Last season’s finalist Borussia Dortmund can emerge undefeated from its trip to Club Brugge in a challenge of at least two complissive goals. Games are also being played in the English Eredivisie and League Cup: over coming in Ajax-Fortuna Sittard, Coventry-Tottenham and Brighton-Wolverhampton.
