Wednesday 15 March predictions: Champions League round of 16 draws to a close, Conference League and Premier League games are also on the line

The Champions League round of 16 draws to a close tonight with Spalletti’s Napoli on the pitch, who, after having secured the Scudetto, dream of going all the way in Europe’s top flight. The passage of the round is downhill after the victory in the first leg and Eintracht Frankfurt is less formidable away than at home.

Passage to the round is also not in question in the other evening encounter between Real Madrid and Liverpool. The Reds, defeated 5-2 at Anfield, will nevertheless try to leave Anfield with their heads held high in a match that, like the first leg, promises a high number of goals.

Other match predictions

There are also two Premier League recoveries: Roberto De Zerbi’s sparkling Brighton should get the better of Crystal Palace, increasingly in crisis and with coach Vieira at serious risk of being sacked. Last beach in the relegation zone for Southampton against Brentord: goals are expected especially in the second half.

An advance in the return leg of the Conference League round of 16 is also being played: Istanbul Basaksehir should at least avoid defeat to Gent in a game with at least two goals in total. The first leg ended 1-1.
