Against Inter and Borussia Dortmund, between the league and Champions League, Juventus mainly showed character, turning around two games that seemed lost. In last Saturday’s match against the Nerazzurri, the Old Lady conceded two quick goals and found themselves 3-2 down with 10 minutes to go. Was it all over? Not at all: first Thuram equalized, then young Montenegrin Adzic scored a stunning goal in stoppage time to send the crowd at the Stadium into raptures (4-3).
There were also strong emotions in the debut in the big-eared cup. At the stroke of 90′, the score was 4-2 for Borussia, with the Germans already anticipating victory: in stoppage time, however, Vlahovic took center stage, now increasingly decisive when he comes on during the game.
The Serbian center forward, who will probably leave on a free transfer next summer, scored the goal to make it 3-4 and, with time practically up, provided Kelly with the assist for the final 4-4. In short, Igor Tudor’s team never gives up, even if their defense, which had looked very solid in the first two games of the season, left something to be desired against opponents of a certain caliber (seven goals conceded in two games). This is something the Croatian coach will have to work on. For now, Tudor is enjoying a highly inspired attack, and the two matches against the Nerazzurri and the Gialloneri have shown that Juve have so much quality and depth in their forward line that they can be dangerous at any moment of the game. Verona, the Bianconeri’s next opponent, have scored only one goal in three games. The Scaligeri have had two draws and one defeat, and last Monday they deserved more in their head-to-head with Cremonese: Paolo Zanetti’s team created many chances – with new signing Giovane the best player on the pitch – but failed to break through the Grigiorossi wall (0-0).
Verona-Juventus: the latest news on the lineups
Zanetti is not expected to make any major changes to the lineup that took the field against Cremonese, especially now that the two strikers, Giovane and Orban – both of whom arrived during the summer transfer window – have shown that they have a certain chemistry. However, the Verona coach will have to make up for the absence of the injured Gagliardini: the battle for the center midfield spot is between Akpa Akpro and Niasse.
Mosquera, Harroui, and Valentini are still out.
Cambiaso returns to Juventus after his suspension: he and Joao Mario are likely to play on the two flanks, while Vlahovic will start in attack after his excellent performance against Dortmund. David and Yildiz will play behind the Serbian this time. Perin will be in goal: Di Gregorio pays for the uncertainties he showed in the cup match.

The prediction
Tudor expects answers against Verona, even when not in possession, after two Zeman-style games by Juventus. Fatigue from the double commitment will not have much of an impact: we expect a Bianconeri victory in a match with less than three goals in total. After all, the numbers for this match speak for themselves: the Old Lady has won six of the last seven matches against Hellas in the league, recording six clean sheets in the same period with a total score of 12-2.
