Tuesday 14 February predictions: Champions League and Championship

by Sabrina

Tuesday 14 February predictions: the Champions League round of 16 kicks off, the Championship and other minor tournaments are also on the pitch

On Valentine’s Day, the Champions League returns to the pitch with the first two round of 16 matches: AC Milan-Tottenham and PSG-Bayern Munich. January was a truly nightmarish month for Milan: Pioli suddenly lost his bearings and the defence rediscovered itself as fragile with 19 goals conceded in 2023 between league, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa

After beating Manchester City, Tottenham are coming off a heavy Premier League defeat to Leicester and coach Antonio Conte is in trouble with injuries especially in the middle of the pitch. Bentancur is injured and Hojbjerg is disqualified, starting goalkeeper Lloris is also out.

Other match predictions

The most spectacular match on paper, however, is the one at the Parc des Princes between PSG and Bayern Munich: Galtier hopes to recover Mbappé, who trained with the group yesterday after injury. With or without the World Cup’s top scorer, a spectacular match full of goals is to be expected.

There are also Championship, League One and League Two fixtures to be played, with Bolton-Milton Keynes Dons and Fleetwood Town-Peterborough among the games with at least three goals in total, and at least one goal per team in QPR-Sunderland and Oxford Utd-Plymouth.
