Tottenham v Sporting CP is a match for Champions League Week 5: live TV, streaming, predictions, lineups

TOTTENHAM – SPORTING CP | Wednesday 21:00

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham want to wrap up their qualifying campaign. Top of the table in their group, the English club would make things safe by winning and gaining access to the round of 16 of the Champions League. A victory is needed not only for Spurs, but also to put behind them the two defeats in a row that came in the league against Manchester United and Newcastle. In short, the moment is not a good one for Spurs with Conte even asking for reinforcements from the club. But in all this, there has also come heavy criticism of the coach from the fans, who are tired of his complaints about the squad and would just like to see him work without talking. This, of course, is not a good viaticum for the renewal of that contract expiring next June that the coach keeps putting off. Who knows, even this could affect his choice.

Things are not going so well at Sporting either, to be honest. The Portuguese have only won three times in their last five fixtures, and in the first leg they did the English side a disservice by winning in the dying minutes to take three points that keep them in the running. It is obvious, however, that in this challenge there is a favourite team and it is the English one. Who at the end of ninety minutes should also be able to celebrate the passage of the round.

The Prediction

In a match that is so important for Tottenham, Antonio Conte’s team should be able to win and bring home qualification to the round of 16 of the Champions League. For Sporting, everything will be decided on the final day. Although a defeat, resulting in a win for Marseille, would close the door on the Portuguese side’s chances of making it through to the round.
