Real Valladolid vs. Barcelona prediction: a foregone conclusion

by Michael

Barcelona are certainly lucky in this round of La Liga. In the middle of their doubleheader against Inter in the Champions League semifinals – and as we know, the tie will be decided next Tuesday at San Siro – the Catalans are playing away at Valladolid, who are already relegated and therefore pose no threat.

A rout is on the cards for the visitors, despite the German coach’s decision to rest some players for this match. The worst defense in the league – 81 goals conceded, a huge number – against the best attack in Europe, not just in La Liga. Barcelona already had fun in the first leg, winning 7-0 and showing no mercy against an opponent in obvious difficulty. Those were different times, of course, and maybe on Saturday night at some point the Catalans will take their foot off the gas, thinking only of the match against Inter that is worth a season. Certainly, given that La Liga is still open and given the very easy task ahead, there is no chance that this match will end with a result other than the one we all know. Yes, because everyone has known for a long time how this match will end.

Odds comparison

Barcelona’s victory is priced at 1.15 on Goldbet and Lottomatica and 1.15 on Snai.

The prediction

A one-sided match in which Barcelona is ready to have fun. A rout is on the cards, with little chance of Valladolid finding the net. The visitors will adopt their usual approach of attacking high up the pitch and leaving space behind. However, it takes technical ability to break out of the press, and we don’t think the home side have the players capable of doing so.

Probable line-ups for Valladolid-Barcelona

VALLADOLID (4-1-4-1): Ferreira; Perez, Comert, Sanchez, Aznou; Juric; Chuki, Anuar, Amallah, Moro; Latasa.
BARCELONA (4-3-3): Szczesny; Garcia, Araujo, Martinez, Martin; Gavi, Pedri; Fermin, Olmo, Raphinha; Ferran Torres.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 0-4
