In Ligue 1 no team has so far managed to take the satisfaction of beating the reigning champions PSG, undefeated and a full 10 points ahead of second-placed Marseille. A practically unchallenged domination that of Luis Enrique’s men, who in May-or much sooner, should these distances remain-in all likelihood will get their hands on yet another title (it would be the fourth in a row, the 13th in total).
In the last two months, PSG has won them all except for the home draw with Reims, a half-hearted misstep that certainly did not “revolutionize” the standings: the pursuers, Marseille and Monaco, despite being two good teams, are unable to keep up with the pace of the capitols.
Last weekend, in Brest, we witnessed another show of strength: thanks to a hat-trick by Dembélé – unleashed by the former Barcelona man – and a double by Gonçalo Ramos, PSG routed the Breton city’s facility without any major problems (2-5), in what was a sort of “appetizer” of the double challenge that will soon be staged also in the Champions League, in the play-offs (the first of the two transalpine Euroderbies is scheduled next week). Then, during the week, the Parisians hurriedly dealt with Le Mans (0-2), winning the pass to the quarterfinals of the French Cup: in the shadow of former Napoli player Kvaratskhelia, still looking for his first goal.
Monaco on the upswing but too much dancing at the back
Now the big match at the Parc des Princes with Monaco, already beaten twice in the season: the first leg ended with a 4-2 victory for PSG, which got the better of them as wellin the French Super Cup (1-0) in January.
The Monegasques are third in the standings, -13 from the top: an abysmal distance that has also come about due to the black period of Adi Hutter’s men at the turn of the old and new year. The club from the Principality, committed like PSG in the Champions League – it will play the play-off with Benfica – has only recovered in recent weeks thanks to successes against Rennes (3-2) and Auxerre (4-2). Last Saturday, Danish striker Biereth, who arrived in the winter market, showed off by netting a hat-trick.

The Prediction
Monaco, along the lines of the 2 previous season’s matches, will not be able to avoid defeat to PSG. Absences, ballerina defense (7 goals conceded in the last three games by the red and white between Ligue 1 and Champions) and away problems (in the league, the last win away from home dates back to November) seem to “condemn” the Monegasques in a match in which the total number of goals will most likely be more than two.
PSG-Monaco likely lineups.
PSG (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes; Joao Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Barcola, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.
MONACO (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Vanderson, Salisu, Kehrer, Mawissa; Camara, Zakaria; Akliouche, Minamino, Ben Seghir; Biereth.
POSSIBLE RESULT: 3-1
