PSG-Borussia Dortmund, Champions League: tv, lineups, predictions.

by Martin

PSG-Borussia Dortmund is a match from the first day of the Champions League group stage and is played on Tuesday at 9pm: lineups, predictions.

The key match of the first day of the 2023-24 edition of the Champions League is played in Paris between hosts Psg and Borussia Dortmund. Both have landed in what, by all accounts, is the so-called iron round along with a team with enormous tradition like AC Milan and the highly ambitious Saudi-owned Newcastle.

The Parisians continue to be unlucky with draws: a year ago in the round of 16 they caught Bayern Munich straight away. The flop, yet another in the international arena, against the Bavarians acted as a detonator. In the end, Psg did it to confirm themselves as champions of France, but it was another “sad” victory, in the sense that after so much investment winning the championship alone certainly cannot be enough. In fact, at the end of the season, coach Galtier was exonerated and both Neymar and Messi left, who were now at odds with the environment and the fans. The era of Luis Enrique, who got back into the game after his experience with the Spanish national team, did not begin in the best of ways. The Parisians’ summer was plagued by the Mbappé case, who even ended up off the roster for not wanting to renew his contract. Then the club opted for reinstatement, perhaps when it realized that its star could not really do without him. In fact, since he has been drafted back in, the phenomenal transalpine striker has scored five goals in just four games and dished out one assist: impressive.

PSG too Mbappé-addicted

Despite Mbappé, however, Psg continues to have ups and downs: last Friday it suffered its first defeat of the season, losing 2-3 at home to Italian Farioli’s Nice.

In short, Luis Enrique has a lot of work to do. Especially from a tactical point of view, if you consider that in the last market session many players left – one of the last to say goodbye was Verratti – and the new ones have yet to prove their worth. It will also have to be a season of redemption for Borussia Dortmund, which last May saw its title slip away in dramatic fashion when it now seemed to have ended Bayern Munich’s dictatorship. The yellow-and-whites did not change much, starting with coach Edin Terzic, who was confirmed on the bench. Dortmund’s start was not exceptional, but in the last day of the Bundesliga came a convincing victory at home to Freiburg, beaten 4-2 (second victory after the one in the opener with Cologne). In Psg there will be no Asensio and in attack Kolo Muani will be preferred to Ramos. Terzic, on the other hand, does not have to deal with any particular defections, with the exception of Duranville’s.

The Prediction

We do not feel like openly standing with a Psg that in the first few days of Ligue 1 has shown that it depends almost exclusively on its best player, Mbappé. However, that at the Parc des Princes could be an entertaining and eventful match, with at least three goals in total and both teams scoring.

The probable lineups of PSG-Borussia Dortmund

  • PSG (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Škriniar, Hernández; Ugarte, Vitinha, Zaïre-Emery; Dembélé, Kolo Muani, Mbappé.
  • BORUSSIA DORTMUND (4-3-2-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Süle, Hummels, Bensebaini; Sabitzer, Reus, Emre Can; Malen, Brandt; Adeyemi.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-2
