Newcastle-Borussia Dortmund, Champions League: tv, formations, predictions.

by Martin

Newcastle-Borussia Dortmund is a match valid for the third day of the group stage of the Champions League and is played on Wednesday at 9 pm: tv, predictions.

In the so-called iron group, the one in which Milan also happened to be in, after two days in first place is Newcastle, who started from the fourth bracket. The English, back in the Champions League after 20 years since their last appearance, lead the standings with 4 points, one more than Psg, swept 4-1 at St. James’ Park three weeks ago. Lagging further behind are the Rossoneri, who are stuck at 2, and Borussia Dortmund, who have won only one point so far.

From now on, in this round, any misstep can be detrimental and the feeling is that the next two days will (definitively?) delineate the hierarchies. In any case, Eddie Howe’s team has a golden opportunity and that is to consolidate the first place in case of victory against the Germans, who would remain pinned to the last position and begin to see the ghost of elimination. Newcastle, however, is in great form and has not even been shaken by the Tonali affair, which will most likely be disqualified for the betting case: last Saturday came yet another positive result – the Bianconeri have not lost since September 2 – in the challenge with Crystal Palace (4-0).

The Magpies can stretch

A match without history that brings the Magpies closer to the European zone: they are now sixth, with four lengths to make up on fourth-placed Liverpool.

Borussia Dortmund is also doing well, as they are still undefeated in the Bundesliga – so far they have lost only in the cup to Psg – and with their narrow success over Werder Bremen (1-0) last Friday they kept their distance intact from leading Bayer Leverkusen, which is only two points away. In the Champions League, Edin Terzic’s men had avoided defeat against a wasteful AC Milan (0-0) on the last day, but another misstep would make everything more difficult. In England, Terzic will have to do without only Moukoko, while Howe’s injury list is longer: absent are Barnes, Botman, Miley and Willock in addition to Tonali, who could know the extent of his long disqualification in the coming hours.

The Prediction

Spurred by its warm crowd, Newcastle, which has lost at home only to Liverpool this season, starts slightly favored against Borussia Dortmund. The Bianconeri are always very solid, especially when playing at home: in the last five home matches they have conceded goals only against Psg. For this reason we imagine a locked match that could be decided by an episode.
