Maccabi Tel Aviv prevailed in a double-header against Aris Thessaloniki to give themselves the chance to reach the Conference League group stage. It was a very difficult task, given that the first match is at home – but with the fact that away goals no longer count double this factor is certainly less decisive – and given above all that in front of them will be a Nice side that is now entering this event and that obviously has no intention of leaving. Indeed, just as with Villarreal, the French are one of the teams that definitely have a chance of going all the way in this competition.
Normally, however, it will not be easy for the transalpines to win in Israel. On paper there should be no match, but then the field is another thing and then the pitfalls are always around the corner. The feeling, however, is that it all depends on Nice: if the guests take to the pitch with the will and determination not to leave the qualification discourse open until next week, then there is little doubt that the French will be able to take a very important victory in the economy of the double confrontation.
