Liverpool v Rangers, Champions League: TV, odds, predictions

LIVERPOOL – RANGERS | Tuesday 9pm

After the history-less defeat at Napoli, Klopp’s Liverpool suffered more than expected to take the three points against Ajax on the second day of the Champions League. In the very painful 2-1 final, the English highlighted all those problems that have come up during the beginning of this season and that do not seem so solvable. Even in the Premier League, in the last round against De Zerbi’s Brighton, the Reds showed difficulties in containing the opponents’ attacks with a defensive phase that in some moments becomes almost embarrassing. In short, there is still work to be done for the German coach and a lot of it.

Yes, obviously Rangers don’t seem to be able to create any headaches for Liverpool at the moment. The league is one thing, the Champions League is another: seven goals conceded in their first two outings and zero scored against Ajax on debut and against Napoli at home. Well, it promises to be another unsatisfying evening for the Scots, the cinderella of the round. They are also struggling with a host of absences: Sands (disqualified), Lawrence, Souttar, Helander and Hagi.

The Prediction

A match of at least three goals in total with Liverpool taking the three points and their second win of the round. It will be an easy double for Klopp’s men who also aim to not concede a goal after three days in which Alisson always bends over to pick up the ball in the back of the net. The English team should succeed.

The Liverpool-Rangers line-up probables

  • LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson Becker; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Elliott, Fabinho, Thiago Alcántara; Salah, Firmino, Luis Díaz
  • RANGERS (4-3-2-1): McGregor; Lundstram, Goldson, Davies; Tavernier, Arfield, Davis, Jack, Barišić; Kent, Čolak.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 3-0
