Limiting the damage. This is the message that Massimiliano Allegri seemed to want to send out during the pre-match press conference. His Juventus is now out of the game: for the first time in nine long years, his name will not be drawn from the Nyon urn that will define the pairings for the round of 16 next Monday. A true sporting catastrophe for a team whose minimum objective was to get through the group stage of the Champions League. But a week ago, in Lisbon against Benfica, even the last hope vanished (4-3) and the Bianconeri are left with the ‘content’ of third place and relegation to the Europa League. Which, however, is still not 100% certain.
In Group H, in fact, Psg and Benfica are paired on 11 points and already mathematically qualified for the round of 16. It only remains to be seen who will do it first and who will do it second. Both direct clashes ended in a draw, and should it persist even after the last ninety minutes, the goal difference will be decisive: at the moment, the Parisians have a slight advantage over the Lusitanians. This is why Mbappé and his team-mates do not arrive in Turin ‘in slippers’, far from it. Juve are therefore called upon to hold their own against Christophe Galtier’s battleship, but at the same time they will have to keep their antennae pointed in Israel’s direction: the Bianconeri have three points like Maccabi Haifa and, if things go badly at the Stadium, they will have to cross their fingers and hope for a Benfica victory. The goal difference would currently reward them in a confrontation with the Israelis: -3 the Old Lady, -9 Maccabi.

Timid signs of recovery, however, continue to come from the league: last Saturday, the young Fagioli, thrown into the fray by the coach, gave Allegri his third consecutive victory, allowing him with a technical feat to return with three points from the away match in Lecce.
A comeback victory in Ligue 1, on the other hand, for Psg, who had to call on the flair of their champions to beat an excellent Troyes 4-3. In the meantime, the emergency continues for the Livorno coach: the young Iling Jr. has also joined the very long list of injured players that includes, among others, De Sciglio, Pogba, Bremer, Paredes, Locatelli, Di Maria, Chiesa, Kaio Jorge, Vlahovic and McKennie. On the other hand, Galtier must do without only Neymar, disqualified for a number of cautions, and Danilo Pereira, who is unavailable.

Not enough of a show of pride from Juventus, in our opinion, to stop an irrepressible Psg. The Bianconeri will try to throw their hearts over the hurdle, but with a long list of absentees and a game that is struggling to take off, they should not be able to avoid defeat. They are likely, however, to find the path to goal on at least one occasion.
