COPENAGHEN – SEVILLE | Wednesday 9pm
A bitter evening for Copenhagen on German soil: not only Borussia Dortmund’s dominance on the pitch, which knocked the Danes out three-nil, but also the clashes in the stands for a deplorable spectacle that certainly affected the players on the pitch. OK, the premise remains the same as last week: the hosts are the bottom team in the group and are unlikely to score any points because Sevilla and especially Manchester City are also in the mix. It’s a dream to play against these teams, and negative results have obviously been budgeted for.
It is not that Lopetegui’s Sevilla have fared any better: the Spaniards have taken four from the team that day after day is becoming one of the main candidates for the final victory of this Champions League. The Andalusians are called for immediate redemption if they want to hope to play for qualification against Borussia Dortmund. But a victory is also needed by the coach, who is risking a lot and could even end up like Tuchel, exonerated after a Champions League defeat. The victory in La Liga against Espanyol gave a little serenity, but nothing is yet decided on the Sevilla coach’s account, who must win again to be really calm.
The Prediction
Because of the importance of the match and the fact that Lopetegui is playing for the bench, Sevilla should be able to take victory and three points against a Copenhagen side who seem to be on an outing. A match that could well yield at least three goals in total, but the feeling is that the visitors will take home the whole of the points either way.
