Champions League, here are all the combinations for the Dec. 12 matches. The rankings guide and what could happen
Tomorrow night, Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Champions League returns to the field for the final day of the group stages. And there are still many teams looking for passage to the round or playing for first and second place. Finally, not forgetting that the third-place teams will also remain in the game, “relegating,” however, to the Europa League.
Four teams are missing from the roll call, as twelve have already pulled out the pass: Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Arsenal and Psv. These, as mentioned, are already sure to play in the knockout phase of Europe’s top competition in 2024, which will begin with the round of 16. Now, however, let’s focus on Tuesday’s matches that still have to and can say something.
Champions League, here are all the combinations for Tuesday, Dec. 12
At 6:45 p.m., for Group B, there is Lens-Sevilla. The guests, to hope to take the Europa League qualification, must win at all costs. The first leg ended 1-1, so any affirmation by the Spaniards would allow them to at least go to the cup they won last year. Arsenal as mentioned first, playing against Psv. Both are sure to go ahead here.
In Group A, however, everything is on the line. Bayern Munich is first, and will play against Manchester United, which is last with 4 points. Copenhagen and Galatasaray, on the other hand, have 5 points: whoever wins goes ahead, either way. While United, beating the Bavarians, must hope for a draw – to continue in the Champions League – or for one of them to lose for the Europa League.
In Inter’s group Real Sociedad is playing for first place precisely with the Nerazzurri. Decisive challenge at the San Siro in this respect. While Salzburg only needs a draw to go to the Europa League in their home match against Benfica. Indeed, the hosts could even lose by one goal to pass the round.
Finally, there is Napoli’s group match: the Azzurri only need a point for arithmetic and, again, a loss by one goal could be enough for second place and join Real Madrid. In the other match, the one between Union and Real Madrid, the Germans must win and hope that Braga does not do the same in order to place the upset in the standings and continue playing in Europe next year.
