Bayern Munich-Lazio, Champions League: free-to-air TV, odds, predictions

by Martin

Bayern Munich-Lazio is a match valid for the return leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League and is played Tuesday at 9 p.m.: TV, streaming, probable formations, predictions.

It is a goal by the biancoceleste captain Immobile, so far, that decides the double-header between Bayern Munich and Lazio. The capitolini, surprisingly, won the first leg (1-0), offering one of the best performances of the season and taking advantage of the difficult moment the Bavarians are going through, called to come back at the Allianz Arena to avert an elimination that would be resounding.

In the challenge at the Olympic Stadium, Thomas Tuchel’s team – at the end of the season, the former PSG and Chelsea coach will leave – first devoured several goals (the final figure will be zero shots on goal, confirming the great inaccuracy of Muller and his teammates) and then ended up suffering the pressure of Maurizio Sarri’s lineup. At 69′ the top moment: Upamecano’s foul on Isaksen in the penalty area resulted in the French defender’s expulsion and the penalty later converted by Immobile. Lazio, however, was unable to take advantage of numerical superiority, badly wasting two chances to double and force Bayern into a very difficult comeback. The Biancocelesti have a one-goal lead and losing by two goals would be out while in case of a draw (any) they would return to the quarterfinals 24 years after the last time.

Bayern Munich is not cured

The German champions remain undoubted favorites to advance to the round, but Tuchel in three weeks is still struggling with the same problems. And the latest results in the Bundesliga prove it.

At the weekend just past, Bayer Leverkusen stretched – now has 10 more points – taking advantage of yet another misstep by the Bavarians, who were stopped (2-2) in the away match in Freiburg. The victory over Leipzig seven days earlier had evidently been just an illusion. However, Lazio, too, did not excite at all: since the victory with Bayern Munich in four games they have beaten only Torino, losing to Bologna, Fiorentina and Milan and slipping to ninth place, -11 from the Champions League. Sarri in Bavaria will have to do without only Patric: in defense, on the flanks, wide to Marusic and Hysaj, while up front it is a duel between Isaksen and Zaccagni. He meditates several changes instead Tuchel, who in defense will not have the disqualified Upamecano. In the back, with former Neapolitan Kim there will be Dier, behind Kane instead Muller and the two youngsters Tel and Musiala.

The prediction

Tuchel has not solved the problems, but in front of his own public his Bayern Munich side should be much more incisive than in the first leg and, unlike three weeks ago, unlikely to miss those chances that Sarri’s team will almost certainly concede. The Bavarians, however, have not recorded a clean sheet since late January, and it would not be a surprise if Lazio managed to score at least one goal. The extra-time scenario is not to be ruled out.
