Bayer Leverkusen-Inter is a match of the sixth day of the Champions League and is played on Tuesday at 9pm: live TV, probable formations, prediction.
The new Champions League championship stage has reached the sixth day, the last one in 2024. The continent’s top competition, after this round (the third-to-last), will reopen in January, however, earlier than in previous editions, when play resumed only in February. There are three days left, then, until the end of the single-round phase, and it is quite normal to start making the first calculations.
Inter, among the five Italians, is the best placed: Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri are the only ones unbeaten with Liverpool and Atalanta but unlike the Reds and Dea they have not conceded a single goal in five games, compared to 7 scored. A cynical and tremendously effective Inter Milan, who while not scoring goals in bunches, have always kept their goals unbeaten in the cup, even against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City. Lautaro Martinez and his teammates are second on 13 points, two less than Liverpool, and a possible victory at home to Bayer Leverkusen would allow them to mortgage a place in the round of 16 (to which only the top eight in the standings qualify directly). In January, in fact, Inter will have to contend with Sparta Prague and Monaco, two opponents largely within the reach of the reigning Italian champions. In the league, meanwhile, Inter continues to win: back on the field after the big scare in Florence (match suspended due to the illness suffered by the purple-haired Bove), the Nerazzurri made a meal of Parma, downed 3-1 at San Siro.
Leverkusen exam for the Nerazzurri
It will inevitably be quite an examination with Leverkusen. The Germans won’t be that of last year, it’s true, but they remain a very talented team and capable of challenging any defense.
Xabi Alonso’s men on the last day of the Champions League asphyxiated Salzburg 5-0, climbing to 10 points in the standings and momentarily re-entering the top eight. To stay there, however, they will have to do nothing wrong in their next two challenges with Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid: if things don’t go their way, it will be extremely difficult for Schick and his teammates to avoid the play-offs for qualification to the round of 16 (by the way, the former Roma man is unleashed, with six goals in the last five games). Inzaghi, meanwhile, hopes to count on two pillars of the defense, Acerbi and Bastoni. The latter came off as a precaution against Parma, while the former is still not 100 percent and remains in strong doubt.

The Prediction
Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan haven’t faced each other in the Champions League since the 2002-03 season, but the Aspirins have always emerged defeated from their three previous continental meetings with the Nerazzurri. Will the trend continue? Inzaghi’s team is objectively stronger but this time it will not be easy to keep the goal inviolate against such a level attack as Xabi Alonso’s men. Both should score.
