Stuttgart-Darmstadt, Bundesliga: odds, predictions

by Sabrina

Stuttgart-Darmstadt is a match for the fifth day of the Bundesliga and is played on Friday at 20:30: TV, lineups, predictions.

For one night, Stuttgart could be looking down on everyone. No, it’s not a joke: the Swabians are keeping up the pace of the big boys in the Bundesliga – in fact, they are just one point behind Bayern Munich, who are top of the table together with Bayer Leverkusen – winning three games and losing (badly) only one.

The number of goals scored is also impressive: 14 so far, which means the best attack in the league. Data that testifies to the excellent job that coach Sebastian Hoeness is doing: last year, the former Hoffenheim coach had the merit of saving a Stuttgart team that was sinking before his arrival. He somehow managed to avoid direct relegation and subsequently won the double promotion/relegation play-off against Hamburg. The red and white lost two star players in the last transfer market, Endo and Mavropanos, who moved to Liverpool and West Ham respectively, but the decision to bet on the striker Guirassy, taken from Rennes, is proving to be the right one: the former Rossoneri player has already scored eight goals and is obviously the Bundesliga’s top scorer. Nobody, not even Harry Kane, has had such an impact.

Stuttgart, who, after their victory seven days ago against Mainz (1-3), could increase their points haul in their home match against Darmstadt.

The newly-promoted team, as was to be expected, struggled a lot in their first matches but against Borussia Monchengladbach last Sunday they won their first point. It was a truly incredible game, with Torsten Lieberknecht’s team already leading by three goals after half an hour. Maglica’s expulsion at the start of the second half, however, suddenly changed the inertia and Fohlen took advantage, scoring three goals within 20 minutes. A comeback that could affect the morale of the Darmstadt players.

The prediction

Stuttgart, a completely different team to last season, cannot be distrusted. The Swabians should take another three points against a Darmstadt that has only won twice in the last 10 away matches. It cannot be ruled out that the red-and-whites will score at least two goals this time as well.
