Spain-Georgia is a match on the tenth day of Group A of Euro 2024 qualifiers and is played Sunday at 8:45 p.m.: predictions.
The fear has passed. But there was a moment when Spain really feared it would fail to qualify directly for Euro 2024 and be forced to play in the play-offs. La Roja, however, bounced back in a big way after an ugly defeat to Scotland last March, the first setback of the de la Fuente management.
Since then Morata and his teammates have not stopped, going on to win seven games in a row, between the Nations League Finals Four and the qualifiers. In June, they triumphed in Rotterdam, beating Croatia in the final on penalties and adding another title to their palmarès. From September onward, however, they have put things back on track in Group A and when there is only one day left they are +2 on Scotland (already qualified like the Iberians) and with first place firmly in hand. In fact, Spain will only need a draw to be sure of going through as first and starting as the top seed when the group draw for the final stage is made. Direct clashes against the British are the first discriminating factor in the event of a tied finish, but in this case we would be facing a total tie, having both won with a 2-0 result when they faced each other.
First place just a step away for the Roja
There would then be goal difference at stake, with Spain able to count on a +18 compared to a Scotland that instead is only at +9.
In the Valladolid match, de la Fuente’s men will face a Georgia side that, despite being fourth in the standings, already knows it can take part in the playoffs in March thanks to its excellent results in the Nations League. No surprises, on the other hand, in the match between Spain and Cyprus, with the Roja prevailing 3-1.
The prediction
Last September Spain exaggerated, smashing seven goals past Georgia (1-7) in Tbilisi. With qualification already in the bag, the Roja might lower the engine revs but it is unlikely we will see a few goals. The Georgians could also score one despite the absence of Kvaratskhelia who is out of action due to disqualification.
