It’s called the Revierderby, and in these latitudes it is perhaps even more heartfelt than the clash with Bayern Munich, the great antagonist of both. However, the rivalry between Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund transcends purely footballing matters, given the geographical proximity of the two cities. Schalke 04 are in a good moment, have secured their goal and should be able to create some problems for a Dortmund team that must immediately get up and forget the Champions League disappointment. The Gialloneri are likely to prevail in a derby that, despite the points gap in the standings, could be more balanced than expected.
