Salernitana-Milan 2-2, Serie A VIDEO highlights: report cards and moviola

by Mark

Salernitana-Milan, here’s the video with highlights and highlights from Friday’s Dec. 22 Serie A evening match, with moviola episodes and report cards.

Pippo Inzaghi’s Salernitana, last in the standings, hosts Pioli’s AC Milan for the Serie A Week 17 fixture. Pioli is looking for an away win in the league more than two and a half months after the last match won away from Milan (namely Genoa-Milan, which ended 0-1, last Oct. 7).

Tommaso Pobega and Yunus Musah are injured and unavailable in midfield. In the front, however, Noah Okafor is missing. That is why the Rossoneri coach has to give space again to Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao, with Chukwueze and Jović ready to take over in the running game. In defense Pioli deploys Tomori and Kjaer centrally, with Calabria on the right and Theo again on the left.

For Inzaghi, a single forward, Tchaouna, supported by Candreva and Dia. In defense, the two centerbacks will be Pirola (in goal against Atalanta) and Fazio. While waiting for Sabatini, who has returned as manager, to revolutionize the team in January, the coach is banking on the men who seem to have been put at the door by Iervolino (Dia, Candreva, Mazzocchi…).

Highlights of the challenge

Salernitana suffers in the first 5′ the eagerness of Leao who comes up twice to shoot but it’s the Campani who create the first real dangerous chance at 6′ with Dia, closed by an excellent Maignan. After the very lively start, the game dies down and the teams play waiting (Milan in possession and Salernitana closing in). In 18′ the Rossoneri team took the lead with Tomori’s header on a suggestion from Leao. Salernitana immediately tried to equalize, but in three dangerous actions Maignan always responded decisively. In the 42′ minute, however, Federico Fazio scores 1-1 with a header.

Ikwuemesi who came in for the injured Dia wastes an excellent chance 54′. Milan concedes several restarts but Salernitana does not exploit them properly. Milan’s first dangerous action in the second half is in 61′ with Loftus-Cheek, but Costil parries. Candreva scores the second goal from outside in 63′ amid Milan protests (Tomori was down). In 67′, Mazzocchi goes for a shot that is bricked by the French goalkeeper. Costil saves twice in the 82′ on Jovic. In 90′, Jovic scores: it’s 2-2. Costil also parries Calabria’s shot in the 93′.

Table and report cards of Saleritana-Milan

REFEREE: Daniele Doveri of Rome

MARKERS: 18′, Tomori; 42′, Fazio; 63′, Candreva; 90′, Jovic

NOTE: Admonished: 34′, Inzaghi; 35′, Leao, 44′, Kastanos; 71′, Mazzocchi, 74′, Gyomber; Recovered: 6′

The best man on the field for Milan, despite the two goals conceded and the half-duck on the second goal, is Maignan: with his interventions he saves at least four times for Milan (6.5). In Salernitana, Candreva shines for tactical sense, spirit of sacrifice and good insights, and of course for the goal (7.5). Leao starts well, then gets lost and plays with obvious listlessness (5.5). Theo often runs on empty, and when he should instead chase opponents he slows down (5.5). Worst on the field for Milan is Calabria, unsure in defense and soft in pushing (5). Kastanos, Mazzocchi and Fazio play with grit and courage (7). Costil also plays a great game, saving twice at the end on Jovic and then at 93′ on Calabria (7). Fair game of self-sacrifice for Giroud (6.5). Ok Jovic (6.5).

Moviola and highlights of the race

Already at 2′ Milan asks for a penalty for a hand touch by Fazio: VAR highlights that there is no foul, but the situation is very doubtful. Salernitana’s 2-0 came with Tomori on the ground, but the referee had not interrupted the game and therefore everything is regular. Daveri struggles to manage tempers in a very nervous ending: it’s almost a brawl!
