Monza-Fiorentina is a match valid for the seventeenth day of Serie A and is played Friday at 8:45 pm: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.
Fiorentina is a stone’s throw away from the Champions League, Monza is not far from sixth place. It’s a challenge with a European flavor at the U-Power Stadium between Vincenzo Italiano’s Viola and Raffaele Palladino’s Biancorossi, two of the most interesting and “modern” coaches in Serie A.
For the Gigliati, an exhausting tour de force has recently ended and for the first time in months they had a (nearly) full week to prepare for the match with the Brianzoli. Fiorentina has not known defeat since late November, when they surrendered narrowly to AC Milan at the San Siro. Since then, a long series of positive results began, between the league, Coppa Italia and the Conference League. The latest success came last Sunday against Verona (1-0): a victory that we could call “dirty,” since it was not the real Viola for at least one half of the game, saved on several occasions by a super performance of goalkeeper Terracciano (who also parried a penalty kick). Then at the end of the match it was Argentine striker Beltran who gave three precious points to the Tuscans, who in the standings have the same points as Napoli, 27, and one less than Bologna in fourth place. On the other hand, it was a day to forget for Monza, which was decisively defeated by Milan at the San Siro (3-0). Palladino’s team continues to struggle with the opponents ahead of it in the standings.
Monza-Fiorentina: latest lineup news
Palladino rejoins Izzo in defense: the former Torino man will complete the defensive trio also formed by Caldirola and D’Ambrosio. On the left flank, Ciurria, who remained on the bench in San Siro, will be seen again, while Pereira will act on the other side, with Kyriakopoulos who could be deployed on the three-quarter this time in place of Portuguese Mota.
Italiano’s main doubt concerns Bonaventura: the experienced midfielder will do everything to be there against the Brianzoli. In front, the usual ballot between Nzola and Beltran, while the place of the injured Gonzalez – the Argentine will have it for at least a month and a half – will be taken by Kouamé, preferred to Ikoné.
UPDATE: Bonaventura excluded from the call-ups. Another heavy absence for Italiano, who will rely on Barak in the three-quarter. Also out is Quarta, replaced by Ranieri.
The prediction
Monza at home has been little continuous but the only defeat in eight games came against Juventus in full recovery: in Brianza you don’t pass easily. The feeling is that Fiorentina will need a super performance to get the better of the “biancorossi,” who last season managed to avoid defeat against the violets both in the first leg and in the return (1-1 and 3-2). Needless to mention then that without Gonzalez, Italiano’s team is more predictable offensively. It cannot be ruled out that Monza will manage to get at least a point in a match with at least one goal on each side. A draw would not be a surprise.
