So far two matches and two comfortable wins in the dawn of the new year for Psg. Four days later, however, a real outing took place with the amateurs of Revel, annihilated 9-0 in the French Cup round, a goleada in which the star of the French national team also participated, back in the news over the renewal issue.
Mbappé, in fact, will expire his contract in June and it is not a given that he will re-sign with the capital club, which is forced to deal with stiff competition from Real Madrid. Of course, much will depend on how this season ends: will Psg once again make an assault on the coveted Champions League, a trophy that the reigning French champions have been dreaming of for more than a decade now. In the meantime, Luis Enrique’s team will try to widen the gap to the Ligue 1 runner-up: at the moment, the only one preventing them from going into a runaway is Italian Francesco Farioli’s Nice, -5 from first place.
In their first league engagement of 2024, Psg will visit Lens, a team that gave them a hard time in the title battle last year.
The Giallorossi, after a forgettable start, have returned to within touching distance of the Europa zone and ended the first leg on 26 points, five less than fourth. Champions League qualification, therefore, is still possible. Before the Christmas stop, however, Lens had seen its long unbeaten streak shattered, losing 2-0 to Nice. The adventure of Franck Haise’s men in the French Cup, eliminated on penalty kicks by Monaco, has also already ended. Without the injured Farinez, Cabot, Machado, and Gradit, Lens will also have to give up Mendy, Guilavogui, Abdul-Samed, Kushanov, and Corts, engaged with their respective national teams. In Psg, for the same reason, Hakimi and Lee will not be there.

Exactly a year ago Lens managed to seize a historic victory against Psg, thanks to which it (momentarily) reopened the championship. It will be very difficult to repeat, also due to heavy absences and a defense that has remained inviolate only once in the last four matches.
