Leipzig-Stuttgart is a match on the 18th day of the Bundesliga and is played on Friday at 20:30: TV, line-ups, predictions.
All too easy. More than expected. Leipzig continued their long winning streak in the midweek transfer window and destroyed Schalke 04 at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen with a 6-1 victory, sinking them even further down the table. It was a one-sided game, already sealed in the first half, in which Marco Rose’s men could even afford to lower their engine revs in the second half.
For the former Borussia coach another show of strength a few days after the excellent home draw in the direct clash with Bayern Munich. The Bavarians meanwhile continue to limp along – in the week they settled for a point against Cologne – and in the advance of the first day of the return leg the Roten Bullen have the opportunity to momentarily move to within -1 of the reigning champions led by former coach Nagelsmann. Rose’s team, both for the results and for what they are showing on the pitch, has all the cards in order to become the first antagonist of Bayern. Which remains the opponent to beat as it is every year, but which in this Bundesliga appears more ‘human’ – and therefore vulnerable – than in previous seasons.
Leipzig’s unbeaten run goes back 15 games in all competitions: after the goleada against Schalke 04, Rose boasts the second best attack in the tournament and if today they find themselves a few points down in the standings it is ‘the fault’ of the stunted start with Domenico Tedesco on the bench.
The change of coach also seems to have regenerated Stuttgart, Leipzig’s next opponent at the Red Bull Arena. The Swabians picked up two points between Mainz and Hoffenheim, which helped them move up the table and away from the relegation zone. There was a lot of regret for Bruno Labbadia’s team on Tuesday, with a narrow victory in Sinsheim (2-2): Kramaric’s goal came virtually as time expired and was perhaps a consequence of Ahamada’s sending-off ten minutes from the end.
The prediction
With an experienced salvation coach like Labbadia, Stuttgart can become a tough customer for everyone. However, it will be very difficult to avoid defeat against the Bundesliga’s most in-form team, who should be able to get the better of them without any major problems in the 18th day’s match. Leipzig, however, have never lost to Stuttgart in official matches and the guests have yet to win away from home in this league. The total number of goals could be at least three at the Red Bull Arena.
