Leipzig-Stuttgart is a match of the second day of Bundesliga and is played on Friday at 8:30pm: TV, lineups, predictions.
Dani Olmo, after the resounding hat-trick scored in the German Super Cup in Munich that was worth the title win, found the back of the net in the league as well in Leverkusen. But this time the Spaniard’s goal failed to bring any joy to the fans of Leipzig, defeated 3-2 in the opener by Xabi Alonso’s Bayer.
The Roten Bullen came right back down to earth, losing a potential direct clash against a hotly-contested opponent in a somewhat scrappy manner. Nothing so worrisome, given that we are still in the middle of summer, but after the triumph at the Allianz Arena something more was expected from Marco Rose’s men, who if they want to try to contend for the title against the favorites Bayern and Borussia cannot lose too many points on the road, as has been the case in the last two seasons. Leipzig against the Rossoneri paid for a poor start – after a little more than half an hour they were already trailing by two goals – and, despite fighting back in the second half, could not manage to retake Hradecky and co.
In Saxony in the advance of the second day of the Bundesliga comes a healthy Stuttgart, fresh from its resounding success against Bochum (5-0).
The Swabians are continuing on the long wave of last season’s finale, when with the arrival of Sebastian Hoeness on the bench they managed to straighten out the season and bring home a salvation – achieved after a play-off with Hamburg – that just a few weeks earlier appeared very difficult. The former Hoffenheim coach seems to have found a way to finally turn around a team that, although it had the potential to make a mid-table championship, was in serious danger of relegation. Against Bochum, Guirassy and Silas scored a brace on each side, while in defense the absence of Mavropanos, who has just been sold to West Ham in the Premier League, was not felt as much (for now).
The prediction
Leipzig is called upon to react immediately after their debut defeat to Bayer Leverkusen but the feeling is that it will not be a piece of cake to beat Stuttgart, who with Hoeness on the bench have lost only one game in nine. Roten Bullen nonetheless favored in a match in which the guests should also find their way to goal.
