Juventus-Roma is a match valid for the 18th day of Serie A and is played on Saturday at 8:45 p.m.: odds, predictions, TV, streaming.
The calendar year of Serie A ends with the big match at Allianz Stadium between Juventus and Roma, a challenge always full of fascination despite the fact that at the moment the Bianconeri and Giallorossi are fighting for different goals: Scudetto the first, fourth place the second.
It’s Massimiliano Allegri versus Jose Mourinho, two of the most talked about coaches in our league, criticized mainly because of their excessive pragmatism. So far, however, both are getting it right, at least that is what the standings tell us. Juventus immediately recomposed itself after the half-hearted misstep in Marassi with Genoa (1-1) that had distanced it from the top – now the Lady is -4 from the leading Inter – and a week ago it went on to win on a difficult field like that of Frosinone (1-2) thanks to a dunk by Vlahovic, who took over in the second half. Earlier, however, it was the young Turkish talent Yildiz, bravely deployed from the 1′ by the Livorno coach, who put Juventus ahead, then reeled in early in the second half by the Ciociari through Baez. The Bianconeri never gave the impression of dominating their opponents but in the end they often managed to bring the three points home, proving that they are the only ones who can keep up with Inter. Roma, which won a direct clash with Napoli (2-0) a week ago, is also back from an important victory, exacerbating the partenopei’s crisis. Oxygen for Mourinho after the draw with Fiorentina and the peremptory defeat to Bologna: the Giallorossi are sixth on 28 points, three points from the Champions League zone.
Juventus-Roma: the latest news on the lineups
Chiesa, left out in Frosinone, is expected to recover for the challenge with Roma. It cannot be ruled out that the talented Yildiz, who impressed in Ciociaria, not only for the wonderful goal, will play next to him. Locatelli’s dilemma in midfield: the Bianconeri director came off in the game at the “Stirpe” and if he does not make it he will be replaced by Nicolussi Caviglia. On the flanks Weah and Kostic, out are the disqualified Pogba, Fagioli and Cambiaso.
Mourinho’s big hope is to get back the former Dybala, but the Argentine despite being burning out, is expected to start from the bench or play only half time anyway. Up front Lukaku and Pellegrini should play, with the Bove-Paredes-Cristante trio confirmed in the middle of the field. El Shaarawy still sidelined on the left, ahead of both Zalewski and Spinazzola, who is not at his best.
The Prediction
Roma’s only (and last) success at the Stadium was in August 2020, at the height of the Covid era and with Serie A forced to make up the second half of the tournament in the summer. Mourinho since he has been on the Giallorossi bench has never beaten the Bianconeri (three defeats and a draw) and is unlikely to do so now, against a Juventus side that is still unbeaten at home and has barely conceded four goals. Slight preference for the Lady in a match that should not reserve much spectacle: the total goals will most likely be less than three. Higher, however, could be the number of cards shown by referee Sozza: at least two per team.
The probable lineups for Juventus-Roma
JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Gatti; Weah, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Yildiz, Chiesa.
ROME (3-5-1-1): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Llorente, N’Dicka; Kristensen, Cristante, Paredes, Bove, Pellegrini; El Shaarawy; Lukaku.
