Hertha Berlin-Wolfsburg is a Bundesliga match of the seventeenth day and is played on Tuesday at 20:30: line-ups, predictions, TV and streaming.
The two-and-a-half month break does not seem to have affected Wolfsburg’s form, as they literally swept aside the Bundesliga’s second-ranked side, Vincenzo Grifo’s Freiburg, in their first outing of 2023. A resounding 6-0, hardly predictable, which strengthens the green-and-whites’ European ambitions, resurrected in conjunction with the arrival on the bench of former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac.
The Croatian coach has managed to bring out the characteristics of some very valuable players who were not performing before his management. And he seems to have found the right key to turn around a team that had very little to do with the league position it occupied until a few months ago. Now things have changed and Wolfsburg, on the threshold of the halfway mark, is seventh, only four lengths from fourth place and the Champions League zone. In the tussle behind impregnable Bayern Munich, Arnold and his teammates are also there. Kovac’s team, which has not lost an official match since last September, has now won five matches in a row with their round-robin victory against Freiburg. The attack, meanwhile, continues to shine despite the physical problems of striker Nmecha: Wind is replacing him well, as confirmed by the double scored last Saturday.
Kovac in this midweek match asks the way to an important ‘piece’ of his past, Hertha Berlin, of whom he was an unforgettable flag player.
The Capitoline team, on the other hand, emerged downsized from their first post-season match. In November they had closed with a victory against Cologne, in the new year they debuted with a heavy defeat (3-1) at home to Bochum, a direct competitor for salvation. It was a false step that further complicated the situation, considering Sandro Schwarz’s men did not move out of the penultimate place. It will be crucial to continue to do well at home: at the Olympiastadion only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have gone through.
The prediction
In spite of Schwarz’s team’s precarious position in the standings, Hertha Berlin’s stadium is difficult to violate and we assume that even a strong side like Kovac’s Wolfsburg will encounter some problems in the German capital. The guest victory, however, should still come in a match in which the total goals will most likely be at least two.
