Granada-Atletico Madrid is a match on the 21st day of La Liga and is played Monday at 9 p.m.: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.
After more than 20 days, Atletico Madrid returns to play a La Liga match. It’s been an intense few weeks for Diego Simeone’s men in any case: between the King’s Cup and the Spanish Super Cup, the Colchoneros have experienced a real ups and downs of emotions, from the 3-1 victory against little Lugo to the double challenge with Real Madrid’s cousins, last week eliminated from the national cup and beaten for the second time this season (the only team to get the better of Carlo Ancelotti’s Blancos).
Atletico Madrid at the Civitas Metropolitano took revenge for their Super Cup defeat seven days earlier in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The extra time was always decisive – by now a classic when these two clubs find themselves against each other in a dry match – but this time it was the red and white that got the better of it, led by a Griezmann in a state of grace. The Frenchman scored the 3-2 goal in extra time, and a minute from the end it was Riquelme who made the defeat even heavier for Real, which had instead come out on top 5-3 on Saudi soil. Now the Colchoneros must get back to scoring in the league, where the situation is not the best.
Last Jan. 3, Atletico had bid farewell with a crushing defeat to top-ranked Girona, capitulating 4-3 in full recovery.
And now the priority is to immediately regain the fourth place and overtake Athletic Bilbao again, which has three points but also two games more than the Madrilenos. Taxing, then, is victory against Granada, which is penultimate in the standings and fully involved in the fight not to relegate. The Andalusians are floundering but two days ago they broke their long fast of victories by winning the direct clash with Cadiz. The men coached by Uruguayan Alexander Medina were not disfigured even with Betis, who prevailed narrowly (1-0) last weekend.
The prediction
A not easy match for Atletico Madrid, against a team more alive than ever and in the hunt for precious salvation points. Simeone’s men will have to keep the attention threshold high but above all quickly file away the “Copero” success with Real Madrid: their victory remains highly probable in a match with at least one goal on each side.
