The crushing victory in the Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter was an important boost for Milan. The Rossoneri, having secured their place in the final at the Olimpico – where they will face Bologna on May 14 – returned to winning ways in the league, beating Venezia 2-0 with goals from Pulisic and Gimenez. Sergio Conceiçao’s team, in any case, can continue to put pressure on those ahead of them, and the match against a Genoa side with nothing left to play for is an opportunity to improve on a frankly unacceptable position in the table, considering the club’s objectives last summer. The Portuguese coach will therefore be looking to his colleague Patrick Vieira, who managed to save the Grifone despite the complicated situation they found themselves in last autumn. The Rossoblù secured their safety well in advance – they have been mathematically safe since last week – and it was not a foregone conclusion: however, they have relaxed a little in recent games, as demonstrated by their two consecutive defeats against Lazio and Como. Genoa have two significant absences, Miretti – whose season is over – and, more importantly, Malinovskyi, who is out with a severe bruise to his right leg. Vieira could revert to a 4-3-3 with Messias and Vitinha flanking Pinamonti in the attacking trio, but Ekhator and Zanoli are also looking for a place in the starting line-up.
Conceiçao has plenty of options in attack after Jovic’s quick recovery: the Serbian center forward, having overcome his muscle problem, is currently ahead of both Abraham and Gimenez. The other battle is on the right between Walker and Jimenez: the former Manchester City player could come off worst. Otherwise, everyone is available.

Marassi is usually a difficult place to play, but on their last few visits, Milan have had no trouble taking all three points from the Rossoblù stronghold: the Rossoneri have won five of their last six games at the Ferraris, and in the two most recent ones, the Diavolo have also kept a clean sheet.
