Friday 9 September football predictions: With the three days of European cups over, with Champions League, Europa League and Conference League matches already returning next week, the rounds of some of Europe’s major leagues – Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 – kick off tonight.

In Spain, Girona and Real Valladolid face each other. A home victory within reach in Ligue 1 for Lens against Troyes.

In Germany, newly-promoted Werder Bremen got off to a strong start against Augsburg in a match with at least three goals in total.

Other predictions

About goals, look out around Europe for these matches that look spectacular on paper: ADO Den Haag-Jong AZ and Heracles-VVV in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, Nürnberg-Arminia Bielefeld in the German Zweite Liga, Volendam-Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie and Burnley-Norwich in the Championship.
