Friday 2 September football predictions: Serie B, Bundesliga, Eredivisie, La Liga.

Against Spal, away from home, the first league defeat has already arrived for Fabio Liverani’s Cagliari. Certainly unexpected for the Sardinians’ objective, which is to return to Serie A immediately. Facing the newly-promoted Modena at home there is immediately the chance to
make up for it: a mission well within reach in a goal challenge.

Like Cagliari, moving to the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund are not on a full points lead. The blame lies with those five minutes of madness in the dying minutes of the match against Werder Bremen. A match that the yellow-and-whites already had in the bag, arriving at the 90th minute on 2-0. Now it’s on to another tricky challenge, against Hoffenheim, who, after their opening defeat to Gladbach, have rattled off three victories in a row, including a 0-3 without history at the BayArena against top-ranked Bayer Leverkusen.

Other predictions

In the Spanish La Liga, Celta’s game looks easy against bottom-of-the-table Cadiz, who have lost all their games so far, most recently in a bad way at home to Athletic Bilbao.
