Fiorentina-Genk is a match valid for the fifth day of the Conference League group stage and is played Thursday at 9 p.m.: tv, predictions.
The six points scored against the least competitive team in the group, Cukaricki, launched Fiorentina to the top of the standings in Group F, which – Serbs aside – continues to be very balanced. The Viola now has 8 points, two more than the pair formed by Genk and Ferencvaros: the Hungarians and Belgians in the two direct clashes did not hurt themselves, drawing both in the first leg and in the return.
This means that Vincenzo Italiano’s team with a win would be certain to play in the knockout stage, it remains to be seen whether they will qualify directly to the round of 16 or whether – as happened in the previous edition of the Conference League – they will have to access it via the play-offs with the third-place teams from the Europa League groups. Instead, it would put everything into question if they were defeated at the “Franchi” with Genk and would force Fiorentina to then play for everything on the last day, in Budapest against Dejan Stankovic’s Ferencvaros. Already in the first leg, however, the Belgians proved to be an opponent to be taken with a grain of salt: they reeled in the Viola twice and even came close to what would have been a 3-2 goal in the dying minutes.
A discontinuous Viola
Gonzalez and his teammates in the Conference League proved to be more prolific than in the league and after the 2-2 draws with Genk and Ferencvaros they scored 7 goals in total against Cukaricki, however, scoring only one in the return match in Serbia (0-1).
Italiano and his team will try to turn over a new leaf after last Saturday’s mocking defeat at San Siro. As is often the case, it was the violets who made the match against Milan, but the lily-livered lineup continues to struggle in the scoring phase, once again remaining dry of goals. The fact is that in the last five days Fiorentina has suffered four defeats (Empoli, Lazio, Juventus and Milan), managing to beat only Bologna. Genk is not shining either, which is only sixth in the Pro League and comes from the defeat (1-0) in the away match with Standard Liege. Lots of doubts in the lineup for Italiano: in attack Nzola is favored over Beltran, while on the three-quarter Barak will take Bonaventura’s place.
The prediction
Genk is an opponent within the Viola’s reach but could prove tricky if not approached with the right concentration. Fiorentina’s victory is likely but not a foregone conclusion. The attack of the Italian team, on the other hand, in Europe can unlock, within a match in which the guests will also make themselves dangerous several times. At least three goals overall.
